Mil-Spec Parachute Cord150 ft. - 550 Mil-Spec. Parachute Cord

200 ft. - #18 nylon twine (approximately 165 lb. test)

1 - Magnifying Lens

With a bit of practice, can be used to seal the ends of cut cord and twine above.

1 Roll - Duct Tape

In case you missed it under raft maintenance, here it is again. Industrial or military grade, heavier is generally better. Make sure it sticks well when wet. Some do better than others (yes, one of these days we'll do a comparison test). Effective for small leaks above the water line and just about the most useful material known to man when improvising or making repairs. If it can't be jury-rigged with duct tape, it's probably not fixable.

4 - Hose Clamps

Stainless steel with a range of approximately 1/2 inch to 2 1/2 inches diameter.

150 sq. ft. - HD Aluminum Foil

4 - Zipper Lock Plastic Freezer Bags, 2 gallon

1 - Waterproof Paper Notebook, 3" x 5"

Keeping a log is vitally important, both for improved morale and as a survival aid to your memory. You want to ensure the paper is waterproof so it will survive with you. With your notes in one piece, you'll be able sell your survival story for millions of dollars, or maybe it'll just ensure we get all the details of the experience correct when we share your story on ETS.

1 - Survival Manual

Some life rafts have excellent, thorough, and waterproof survival manuals, many do not. Note that a survival manual is not a very good substitute for training and knowledge, but it helps.

1 - Inspirational Material

Many survivors rely on their religious or spiritual beliefs for support during a survival ordeal. If you are so inclined, it may be beneficial to include religious or inspirational materials in your survival kit - a Bible, Koran, collection of inspirational poems or passages, or whatever is appropriate to your beliefs. These are readily available in reduced size versions at religious and spiritual supply stores. The magnifying lens discussed above could be useful when reading the teensy weensy fine print in some of these small books, however.

1 - Packing List

It can be helpful for others if they know what's in the Abandon Ship Bag. Also a nice place to keep track of expiration dates.
