R.E.K.A.T. Rolling LockThe Rolling Lock was invented and patented by Bob Brothers and Bob Taylor of Round Eye Knife and Tool. As with some other inherently strong blade locks (such as Benchmade's Axis Lock or the SOG Arc Lock), the Rolling Lock, which is supported in both liners, relies on shear strength of the locking bar to lock the knife open. In the locked position (figure 1) the Rolling Lock engages the locking notch (figure 3). The only way for the lock to fail and the blade to close accidentally is for the bar to shear (or the blade pivot to fail). The lock pin is eccentric and self adjusts for wear. To unlock the blade, the locking bar is rotated via the slide bar (figure 2), exposing the flat cut-out which clears the locking notch, allowing the knife to be closed. The bar is operated via a slide set into the liner/scales on knife's handle. |
